Through the kaleidoscope of meaning: Constructivist and Existential approach

Abstract:
Boredom and later emptiness are frequent topic, although it seems that people continue to find ever-new and diverse ways to escape it. Despite being products of modernity, this concept also captured the attention of earlier thinkers. The goal of the lecture is to explore, through interaction, alternative ways of coping with this distressing emotional state, as well as to deconstruct the concept. Does creating meaning dispel this seemingly hollow yet intense emotional experience? We will seek understanding and potential answers through constructivist and existentialist theoretical frameworks - from Frankl’s concept of the existential vacuum to Kelly’s ideas on roles and interpersonal closeness.
